Wireless Network Visualization Project HOME
While computer networks and geography may not appear to have much in common, a collaborative effort was launched between the Univeristy of Kansas' Information & Telecommunications Technology Center and Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Program to create a more advanced wireless 802.11b mapping and network visualization method. This new procedure uses wireless network data collected from walking and/or driving scans, aerial photography, and interpolation techniques to create highly detailed network coverage and signal strength maps.

802.11b Wireless Networking (Wi-Fi)
If there is a technology that deserves the accolade "very cool" this it it. Simply plug a PC card into your laptop, get a DHCP address and your connected! Yes, when within range of a suitable base station it really is that easy! I've now got 2 PC cards and a base station at home, so having gone through the process of getting everything setup I'll try to give some pointers for others who are interested!
